Tip of the Day 2/26/11

Have the family decide on a new healthy food to try this next week.  Start a new healthy habit of choosing one new HEALTHY food to try each week.  Don't forget to do your 15 minute clean-up today and move your "Put Aways" to the Give Aways."

Tip of the Day 2/25/11

It's Friday so let's have "Do It Yourself Dinner Night."  Pick a favorite food of your household, Pizza, Sub Sandwiches, Tacos, Salad Bar, etc.  Put out all the ingredients and let everyone build their own.  If the kids want pickles on their pizza, let 'em have it.  No rules, just fun food and family time.

Tip of the Day 2/24/11

Keep 2 threaded sewing needles in the area where you dress, one black and one white thread. If a button is loose or a hem is coming out you can quickly stitch it up without having to change clothes or hunt down a needle and thread. If you don't know these basic skills, learn them. Everyone, male or female should know how to do this. You can find instructions by googling.

Tip of the Day 2/21/11

Tip of the Day 2/19/11

Have each member of the household choose up to 5 items to put in the "Give Away Box" or garage sale box if you prefer. Allow children to choose what they would like to get rid of. If it is something you question, ask them why, but allow them the freedom to choose. Just like adults they may just not like the shirt or maybe the tag scratches them and could be an easy fix.  If they are choosing brand new items or something they begged for work, out a solution to the reason they want to get rid of it. Don't forget to do your Saturday 15 minute family clean-up and moving items from the"Return Box" to the "Give Away Box." Enjoy a Dee-Cluttered Day.

Tip of the day 2/18/11

Check coats for loose buttons and other repairs needed.  Clean out all of the pockets.

Tip of the Day 2/17/11

Never let dishes touch the bottom of the sink. Dishes should be going straight into the dishwasher. If you don't have a DW wash dishes immediately. Dishes piled in the sink make us unhappy, so commit to not letting it happen any more.

Tip of the Day 2/16/11

Many of you pre-sort your laundry, but do you pre-sort the Dishwasher? By putting like items in the same rows or compartments your unloading time is greatly reduced. Plus it is a great way for kids to learn how to sort like items and be able to help load and unload easier.

Tip of the Day 2/15/11

In honor of my Yada Yada Sisters and our Book club meeting tonight today's tip is to step out of your comfort zone and read a book in a genre or by an author you have never read before. Unless you find the book offensive (or as in my case frightening, I have nightmares easily) make your way all the way through.  Check with your library or churches in the area for book clubs. It is a great way to meet new people and have an excuse to read. I have been blessed by the friendship of the women in our club for almost 6 years. We come from very different backgrounds and we range in age from 20's to 50's. Happy reading.

Tip of the Day 2/13/11

Remember "Love is patient and kind, it does not envy or boast, is not proud, rude, or self seeking, not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth, always protects, trusts, hopes, and preserves. Love never fails." Without it we are nothing. 1 Corinthians 13

Tip of the Day 2/11/11

Let's Dee-clutter our mind today, shake off the cobwebs that have formed over the past 2 weeks of major winter blahs-Start planning for Spring. What type of garden do I want this year, What new activity would I like to try outdoors, What should we do for Spring Break. Get the family involved in a brain storming session and do not discount any suggestions.

Tip of the Day 2/10/11

Divide your house into cleaning zones and clean a small portion each day. You will discover it stays cleaner and you are not overwhelmed or exhausted cleaning it all in one day. Try to clean the zone in 15 - 20 minutes, then choose 1 extra 15 minute project each day to accomplish. Your house will be under control and you will feel Dee-cluttered.

Tip of the Day 2/9/11

Help pull yourself out the winter duldrums by adding a nice spring color top under the layers of clothes you are wearing.

Tip of the Day 2/8/11

Dining Room or Kitchen chairs are not part of our furniture we give much thought to. Today dust or wash down the chairs, if removable cushions-wash (be sure to use a tennis ball or shoe when drying or dry flat), if upholstered-vacuum or use a sticky roller to clean, rotate chair locations at the table-different weight and body shape will help with the wear on the upholstery.

Tip of the Day 2/7/11

Create a "Return Box" for items left where they do not belong. Anything not claimed and put away by it's owner by Saturday is moved to a "Give Away Box." Come up with a fair "redemption policy" to have an item returned after it is moved to the Give Away Box. This keeps the house neat and teaches responsibility and good stewardship as well as neatness. Everyone wins.
